PSI Global was named the first agency affiliate member of Train the Painter in 2022. The acclaimed programme is known as, “the world’s leading industry-recognised and fully accredited Industrial Coating Applicator Training Programme.”
Being an affiliate member of the programme has allowed PSI Global to provide their own training to the workforce on a number of projects. The aim is to allow the current workforce to upskill while giving potential workers in the local community the assistance they may need for a career change.
“This is a big step forward for PSI Global and our commitment to putting our workforce first,” said Training Director Rebecca Law. “Being an affiliate member of Train the Painter allows us to provide training to our workforce as and when we need it. It’s a great opportunity for our industrial painters who might otherwise not have had the opportunity to get the certifications necessary to continue their career.”
The training courses are now live, and the company has enrolled a number of people on the Train the Painter courses over the past few years. This has also included running the Protective Coatings Applicator course (the Bronze course) for several people who came through the local Job Centre, looking to start their career in Industrial Painting. It has also included clients looking to upskill their workforce and trade testing for workers about to start on-site.
Train the Painter, part of The Corrodere Academy, runs many courses designed to give workers the essential skills they need before they’re able to start work on-site. Some of these courses include Abrasive Blast Cleaning, Water Jetting, Coating Supervisor, and Thermal Metal Spraying Applicator.
“We are really excited about offering our range of training courses to a new audience through PSI Global, helping to further shorten the skills gap in the industrial services sector,” said Corrodere Academy Commercial Director Lucy Pavia. “Having them on board as our first agency to be an affiliate member is a great step forward.”
The team at PSI Global have always been dedicated to upskilling and training their workforce. Partnering with Train the Painter as an affiliate offers current and potential workers the opportunity to build on their current industrial skills. It also brings an added benefit to those who are looking for a career change and allows the company to employ people local to the project and training facilities.
“We supply some really prestigious sites across the UK and wanted to invest in the communities that we are working in to increase the local workforce in these key areas,” Law explained. “We had initially set up the PSI Training Academy to do our part in trying to reduce the skills shortage and bring more people into the industry.”
PSI Global has offices across the UK, including their head office in Liverpool, and colleagues available in Plymouth, Portsmouth, and Rosyth. The company also has a presence in Europe, with an office recently opened in Romania. The recruitment division of PSI Global supplies clients with both blue and white-collar workers in several sectors, including Construction, Rail, Civils, Infrastructure, Industrial Services, Oil & Gas, and Mechanical & Electrical.
