The ECITB TFM03 Abrasive Blast Cleaning (Direct Pressure) course is for both onshore and offshore fabric maintenance personnel who may be required to complete a trade test before employment is approved or started.

The course consists of a three-hour practical test and a one-hour knowledge test. You must pass the knowledge test before progressing to the practical element.

By the end of this training programme, delegates will be able to…

  • Correctly select and set up the blast cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Undertake equipment checks to ensure the equipment is ready to use.
  • Undertake associated equipment checks such as the power and the blast media to be employed.
  • Check the condition and pre-surface cleanliness of the mild steel test plate.

Confirm their medical fitness and physical ability to participate as the course itself may potentially be physically demanding and/or stressful. This will be done by completing a medical self-screening form prior to the start of the course.

Certification:

An ECITB certificate will be issued upon successful completion of this course.

Certificate Validity:

36 months

Target Audience:

This course is for those required to complete a trade test prior to employment being offered or commencing.

Revalidation:

The course must be revalidated every three years.

Items to Bring:

Government-issued Photographic ID (e.g. Driver Licence or Passport). Delegates are also required to bring steel-toe cap safety boots.
