Working in partnership with the DWP Job Centre, the team at PSI Global Training continued our commitment to helping people in our local communities take meaningful steps back into work. With the Job Centre’s support and funding, we were able to connect directly with individuals who were eager to retrain, upskill, and begin new careers in industrial painting.
We welcomed seven candidates onto our Train the Painter programme, an industry-recognised route into protective coatings. The programme combined two critical qualifications:
To make the training as accessible as possible, we ran the sessions in Barrow-in-Furness, hiring a local community centre. This not only provided a familiar, supportive environment for our learners but also reinforced our ongoing investment in the towns and communities we serve.
The course was led by our experienced trainer, Jonathan, who guided participants through both classroom-based learning and hands-on practical sessions. His expertise in industrial painting meant trainees didn’t just gain qualifications, they gained insight into what working on-site really looks like, giving them the confidence to step into employment.
The outcome of the programme was a success for both participants and the wider community:
This programme has given participants more than just qualifications, it’s provided them with a pathway into stable employment, financial independence, and a long-term career in an industry that values their skills. This has set them on the path to become Industrial Painters in Barrow, working in their local community.
By working closely with the DWP Job Centre and delivering training directly within the community, PSI Global Training continues to demonstrate how targeted support can unlock new opportunities, strengthen local workforces, and create lasting positive impact.
